Project Description

Executing a prestigious university graduation requires surgical technical precision, strict scheduling, and rigid budget adherence. Shadowbox Design Management partnered with St. John’s University to deliver full-service production management for their annual commencement events across the Queens campuses.
The extensive scope of work spanned three distinct high-profile events for the Queens campus: an intimate indoor doctoral hooding ceremony, a sacred commencement chapel service the evening prior, and the grand outdoor commencement ceremony [1].
To transform the expansive campus grounds into a world-class arena, our team engineered and integrated a massive, specialized equipment package:
  • Staging: Rental and logistical management of a premium SAM 550 mobile stage to serve as the main outdoor commencement platform.
  • Video Production: A comprehensive 5-camera professional broadcast package, including a dynamic JIB crane camera system, custom video content creation for large projection screens, and integrated mobile LED screen trucks .
  • AV & Infrastructure: A high-output outdoor audio line array system, a custom theatrical lighting package, heavy-duty stage rigging, and full-scale print production for event signage and university banners.

From initial scheduling to the final load-out, our technical team collaborated seamlessly with the University event staff. By prioritizing strict fiscal control and precise timeline tracking, Shadowbox ensured a flawless, stress-free execution that honored the institution’s traditions while staying firmly on budget.
